Atley Boer Goats is
owned and operated by Ryan and Jana Roberts. We are located in Edwall, Washington, just outside Spokane.Our herd is just reached our goal 40 does, plus our two bucks
and various meat wethers.
We got our
start in the spring of 2008, while visiting Eagle Scream Boer Goats owned by Jana’s parents. Ryan selected a 2 month old pureblood doe, starting off a chain reaction that led to us picking
out 4 other does. We also bought our previous herd buck, Brook Hill CODI Crazy Horse that summer.
We've enjoyed productive first
years, most of our does produce twins or triplets, including our first time does. We've had success in showing our 'home-grown'
stock, with some of our Atley does placing well at shows in 2009 and 2010. Our hope is to attend at least
three shows each year.
Our goals for Atley
Boer Goats are to produce sound kids with high rates of gain, consistently improve on udder and teat structure in our does,
and breed for a hardy, low maintenance herd.
All of our goats were
purchased from proven CAE and CL negative herds. As of August 2010 we have tested all our goats over 10 months of
age, all were negative for both CAE and CL. We test all new goats before they are introduced into the herd. Any of
our goats offered for sale can be tested prior to the sale by request, or comes with a guarantee if the buyer tests within 7
days. Our goats are also enrolled in the National Scrapie Eradication Program. All of our market animals are tagged in accordance
with the program.
